Manifestation is a huge trend right now. There is a lot of misleading information out there surrounding this. So many social media accounts post a positive affirmation and say “like this post to claim it and this will happen to you in 30 days!”. I’ll be honest, I’ve participated in some of those posts. It’s fun to create good energy around yourself and It’s great to imagine receiving something in life that you asked for. It helps to create a positive outlook on life. BUT… it doesn’t end there.
There is a common belief that we can manifest our desires simply by thinking positively and believing that we will get what we want. This belief is often referred to as the “law of attraction.”
However, while positive thinking and belief in oneself are important, they alone are not enough to manifest our goals and desires. Hard work and effort are also necessary in order to achieve our goals.
Manifestation is about aligning our thoughts, beliefs, and actions with our desired outcome. It is about focusing on what we want to create or attract in our lives, rather than what we don’t want. However, simply thinking about what we want is not enough. We also need to take action towards our goals and make an effort to bring them into reality.
For example, if our goal is to start a successful business, we can’t just sit back and wait for it to manifest. We need to put in the hard work and effort to research and plan the business, find funding, build a team, and market our products or services.
You can’t just ask for something and not think about it again still expecting for it to happen. You still have to do the work to help yourself to get yourself there! Your life won’t drastically change because you liked an instagram post, despite what some people want to believe. Manifestation is an important aspect of achieving our goals, but it is not a substitute for hard work and effort. Both are necessary in order to bring our desires into reality.
Here’s an example of how I manifested a big moment in my business. A social media post said “mark your calendar for 60 days from today and something amazing is going to happen to you”. I was like, sure, whatever. I’ll do it and see what happens. So on the 59th day, I got a calendar notification reminding me that what I had manifested was happening the next day. I kind of shrugged it off and I fully expected it to just be something small that would brighten my day and may or may not be interpreted as part of the manifestation. No big deal, it was just fun to think about and get in the mindset for. That next morning, I ran into an old friend while getting coffee and she asked me what I was up to. I told her all about my meditation studio and the podcast and she said, you’re not going to believe this, but I’ve been looking for someone to partner with on this big project and you would be absolutely perfect for it! Long story short, after a fabulous 2-hour discussion, she signed the biggest client contract that I’ve ever done to-date. Manifestation accepted.
Let’s talk about this lesson here. Did the manifestation work? Yes it did. Did that interaction happen because of the manifestation? No it did not. Think about that for a second.
Knowing that I wanted something good to happen on that day helped me recognize the significance of the contract and that interaction. If I hadn’t manifested that, would it still have happened on that day? Yes, probably, I just wouldn’t have made such a big deal out of it and it woudn’t have been in the forefront of my mind. I fully believe that I was meant to run into her in that moment. But I only believe that because of all of the hard work I’d been doing in the background.
Engage With The Positive Energy
The same thing goes for mindset, mental health, trauma, and healing. When we just want the hardships to end, we’re willing sell our soul for some good news sometimes. You can’t just say a positive affirmation like “I am successful. I am confident. I am powerful”, and wake up the next morning and be all of those things. It takes a while to engrain those in your mind and actually believe them. That’s the big word. Believing in them. Believe in yourself.
Often we’re dismissive of good things because it wasn’t what we pictured it’d be like, or there’s so much else we still have to do. Celebrate the little successes and you will begin to notice more of them.
That’s your mindful action for this week! I want you to notice when you are a little bit more hopeful and optimistic, and then try to more to those feelings. Why are you feeling excited and hopeful? Is it because of the energy and the people surrounding it? Is it because of a sense of accomplishment? Notice the things that lift you up and celebrate them. As the week goes on, see if you start to notice more of those things. The more you focus on the good things, the more good things you will notice in your life. It’s not that more good things are happening in your life, it’s just that you’re beginning to see and appreciate them more. Like I said. The manifestation is there to support you along the way. It’s not going to create the good things out of thin air. It’s going to support you in reaching your goals.
So, the meditation for today will be focusing on positive affirmations. The more you recite them to yourself, the more you will begin to believe them.
